
Wide Application of PSA Activated Carbon
Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology has developed rapidly in China in the past two decades. As an indispensable material, activated carbon for pressure swing adsorption system is widely used in the separation, recovery, purification, concentration, and purification of industrial gases. It is widely used in the production of petrochemicals, fertilizers, metallurgy, coal, and food industries. In hydrogen, shift decarbonization, CO2, pressure swing adsorption projects for concentration and production of CO2, CO, and CH4, very significant economic and social benefits have been achieved.
Pressure Swing Adsorption Technology
Pressure swing adsorption technology is based on the principle of using a specific adsorbent - coal-based activated carbon as the adsorbent. Based on the physical adsorption of gas molecules on the internal surface of activated carbon for pressure swing adsorption system, the characteristics of activated carbon for pressure swing adsorption system are used, that is, it is easy to adsorb high-boiling point components and difficult to adsorb low-boiling point components under the same pressure. The adsorption capacity increases under high pressure and under low pressure. The amount of adsorption is reduced. The raw material gas passes through the adsorption bed under a certain pressure. High-boiling-point impurity components relative to hydrogen are selectively adsorbed. Low-boiling-point hydrogen is not easily adsorbed and passes through the adsorption bed to achieve separation of hydrogen and impurity components.
